Key Highlights:
Skill Stream: The majority (71%) of the program is dedicated to skilled migrants, aiming to bolster the economy and fill critical labor gaps, particularly in regional areas.
Family Stream: Approximately 28% of the program focuses on family reunification, primarily through Partner visas, allowing Australians to bring their loved ones to the country.
Employer Sponsorship: An increased allocation of 44,000 visas demonstrates a commitment to providing pathways to permanent residency for temporary skilled workers.
Regional Focus: State/Territory Nominated and Regional visa categories have been expanded, offering more opportunities for skilled migrants to contribute to specific regions facing unique challenges.
BIIP Closure: The Business Innovation and Investment Program will be closed in July 2024, reflecting its perceived poor economic outcomes.
