Provincial Nominee Program Nominations and Invitations Bolster Candidates' Pathways to Permanent Residency

As the wheels of immigration continue to turn, five Canadian provinces have stepped forward this week to extend invitations to candidates through their respective provincial immigration programs. These nominations and invitations carry significant weight in enhancing candidates' prospects for achieving permanent resident status, with Express Entry candidates reaping added benefits.

Shared Responsibility for Immigration

In the realm of Canadian immigration, the responsibilities are jointly shared between the provincial and federal governments. When a province nominates a candidate through the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP), it not only signifies the candidate's alignment with the province's economic needs but also empowers their application for permanent resident status. Express Entry candidates, in particular, enjoy a substantial advantage, as their nominations result in an immediate 600-point boost to their Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score.

Provincial Immigration Highlights for August 12-18

Ontario: Leading the way, Ontario issued invitations to a staggering 5,450 candidates across multiple streams. Draws focused on candidates with job offers, with the Employer Job Offer streams comprising the International Student, Foreign Worker, and In-Demand Skills categories. The Human Capital Priorities stream also played a significant role. A highlight was the invitation of 853 international students with a minimum score of 61 and job offers in technology, healthcare, and skilled trades.

Saskatchewan: After a brief hiatus, Saskatchewan resumed its Expressions of Interest (EOI) draws on August 16. Across Express Entry and Occupations-In-Demand streams, a total of six draws were conducted, dependent on candidates' countries of residence and occupations. Draws targeted individuals from Ireland, India, and select European countries, each requiring a minimum score of 60.

Quebec: The Ministry of Immigration, Francization, and Integration invited 1,384 candidates in its latest round of invitations on August 10. This province stands apart with its autonomy over economic immigration programs, employing its own selection criteria, including a French language proficiency requirement. While an invitation to apply for permanent selection is different from achieving permanent resident status, the path is paved for candidates to progress through both stages.

British Columbia: British Columbia carried out targeted draws on August 15, inviting candidates across the Skilled Worker and International Graduate Streams, including Express Entry. The largest draw welcomed 107 tech occupation candidates with a minimum Skills Immigration Registration System (SIRS) score of 88. Other draws focused on early childhood educators, healthcare professionals, and priority occupations, all requiring a minimum score of 60.

Prince Edward Island: On August 17, Prince Edward Island invited 142 candidates through two streams of the PEI PNP. The Labour and Express Entry stream welcomed 138 individuals working for PEI employers with a minimum EOI score of 50. Additionally, four invitations were extended to candidates in the Business Work Permit Entrepreneur category, meeting the minimum point threshold of 102.

These provincial immigration initiatives exemplify Canada's commitment to attracting skilled talent and enhancing its economic landscape. As candidates receive these coveted invitations and nominations, their journey towards permanent residency gains momentum, marking a significant milestone in their pursuit of the Canadian dream.
