This week has witnessed active provincial immigration programs in five Canadian provinces, drawing candidates to apply for provincial nomination through their respective Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs). These nominations provide candidates with a substantial advantage when applying for permanent residence with Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).
The Provincial Nominee Programs offer multiple pathways tailored to diverse candidate attributes.

Participation in the PNP is widespread across Canadian provinces and territories, except Quebec and Nunavut. Quebec operates under a distinct agreement, exercising autonomy in selecting its economic immigrants. However, final decisions regarding permanent residency for Quebec-selected candidates still rest with IRCC.
The annual Immigration Levels Plan guides the overall target for PNP permanent resident admissions. Canada aims to admit 110,000 newcomers through the PNP in 2024 and 120,000 annually in both 2024 and 2025. These targets are then distributed among provinces based on population and economic necessities.
Here are the highlights of the provincial immigration results from December 9 to 15:
Ontario:
On December 14, Ontario invited 2,359 candidates through the Express Entry: Human Capital Priorities stream of the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP). This draw focused on tech occupations, selecting candidates with Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) scores in the range of 473-480.
British Columbia:
British Columbia invited over 192 candidates through various streams within the BC PNP. Draws were conducted across different occupational categories, including construction, healthcare, and early childhood education.
Quebec:
Quebec invited 1,187 candidates on December 7 for the Quebec Skilled Worker Program. No specific occupations were targeted, with candidates requiring a minimum score of 604 for consideration.
Manitoba:
Manitoba conducted three draws, inviting Skilled Workers in Manitoba, candidates from the International Education stream, and Skilled Worker Overseas individuals.
Alberta:
Alberta issued invitations to 19 Express Entry candidates under the Dedicated Healthcare Pathway with a job offer stream, requiring a CRS score of 300 and above.
