British Columbia's government has acknowledged the imminent challenge of ensuring an adequate supply of trained workers to meet the province's future economic needs. Of these projected job openings, around one-third will be newly created positions, while the remaining two-thirds will be created due to individuals leaving the workforce, primarily through retirement. Government economists estimate that 56% of the job openings will be filled by young British Columbians entering the workforce, while an additional 8% will be filled by individuals migrating from other provinces. However, a significant portion, approximately 31%, will need to be filled by newcomers to Canada.
