Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has once again opened its doors to potential immigrants by issuing invitations to apply (ITAs) in the latest Express Entry draw.
In this fourth draw of the week, the department has invited 400 candidates to apply through a category-based selection for individuals specializing in agriculture and agri-food occupations. To qualify for an ITA, candidates were required to attain a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 386.
This recent draw follows a series of three other draws earlier in the week, showcasing IRCC's concerted effort in selecting skilled candidates. On December 18, an all-program draw invited 1,325 candidates with a minimum CRS of 542. The subsequent day, IRCC invited 1,000 candidates from trades occupations in a category-based draw, the second of its kind this year, requiring a minimum CRS score of 425. The first draw for trades occurred on August 3, extending invitations to 1,500 candidates.
The week culminated in IRCC issuing invitations to 670 candidates on December 20 in a category-based selection for transport occupations, with a minimum CRS score of 435.
Last week witnessed a similar influx of draws. On December 8, 5,900 candidates specializing in STEM occupations received ITAs with a minimum CRS of 481. Additionally, on December 7, IRCC targeted individuals proficient in the French language, inviting 1,000 candidates from the Express Entry pool with a minimum CRS of 470.
The resumption of draws occurred on December 6, involving an all-program draw inviting candidates with a minimum CRS of 561. This draw marked the end of a pause lasting over a month, with the previous draw on October 26 focusing on healthcare occupations through a category-based selection.
While IRCC did not provide explicit reasons for the hiatus in draws, a tweet on November 14 highlighted an IT issue affecting candidates attempting to upload final applications following an Invitation to Apply (ITA) via the Express Entry profile builder. Though the issue was resolved on November 16, draws were not immediately resumed.
IRCC's consistent efforts in conducting Express Entry draws underscore Canada's commitment to selecting skilled immigrants, aligning with the nation's economic objectives and workforce requirements.
