On February 1st, In a move to prioritize French language proficiency, Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has conducted its latest Express Entry draw, inviting 7,000 candidates under a category-based selection.
Applicants vying for an Invitation to Apply (ITA) in this draw were required to showcase their proficiency in the French language, signaling Canada's commitment to fostering linguistic diversity among its immigrant population.
The draw, held today, set a notably low bar for eligibility, with candidates needing a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 365. This marks the lowest CRS score required in any draw so far this year, emphasizing the emphasis on linguistic abilities in this particular selection.
This draw is the second of the week, with a preceding draw on January 31 inviting 730 candidates through a general selection process, where a minimum CRS score of 541 was required.
Reflecting on the draws earlier in January, the first took place on January 23, welcoming 1,040 candidates with a minimum CRS score of 543 in a general draw. The second draw of the month, occurring on January 10, also followed a general pattern, extending invitations to 1,510 candidates with a CRS score of 546.
As we enter 2024, it remains uncertain how the Express Entry draws will unfold throughout the year. In 2023, IRCC conducted 42 draws, issuing ITAs to over 110,000 candidates, aligning with the 2023 and 2024 admissions targets set in the Immigration Levels Plan.
