June 20, 2024 – Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has conducted its latest Express Entry draw, issuing 1,499 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) for permanent residency. This draw was exclusive to candidates in the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP), requiring a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 663.
This marks the second PNP-specific draw this year and the first Express Entry draw in June. Notably, this draw, along with the two draws conducted on May 30 and 31, deviates from the usual pattern established since the introduction of category-based selection draws in May 2023, as it focuses solely on program-specific draws.
The May 30th draw also targeted PNP candidates, while the May 31st draw focused on the Canadian Experience Class (CEC), marking the first CEC-specific draw since September 2021. Combined, these three draws issued ITAs to 5,985 candidates.
The recent focus on PNP and CEC draws aligns with Canada's strategic shift towards facilitating the transition of temporary residents already living and working in Canada to permanent residency. This approach aims to address the growing number of temporary residents in the country while prioritizing those with established Canadian experience and connections.
Express Entry candidates invited in this latest draw have 60 days to submit their completed permanent residency applications. The processing time for these applications is typically six months.
The unpredictable timing and nature of recent Express Entry draws make it challenging to predict the specifics of future draws.
