Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has issued 500 invitations to apply (ITAs) to Canadian Experience Class (CEC) candidates in the second Express Entry draw this week. The minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score required for this draw was 539.
This draw follows a PNP-specific draw held earlier this week, which saw 1,613 candidates with provincial nominations invited to apply for permanent residence. The minimum CRS score for that draw was 739.
The focus on CEC candidates continues a trend seen throughout the summer, with IRCC having issued 21,800 ITAs to this category of applicants since July. This approach aligns with the department's goal of increasing the number of "domestic" draws and reducing the number of temporary residents in Canada. By prioritizing individuals already working in Canada, IRCC aims to help meet its permanent resident targets for the year.
The previous CEC-specific draw took place on September 19, with 4,000 ITAs issued and a minimum CRS score of 509.
Last year, IRCC held four Express Entry draws in October, inviting a total of 9,173 candidates. With two draws already completed this month, it remains to be seen whether IRCC will maintain a similar pace for the remainder of October.
