Several Canadian provinces issued invitations to immigration candidates through their Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs) last week. This article provides a breakdown of the results from British Columbia, Quebec, and Manitoba.
Important Note: Remember that each province has its own scoring system for PNP applications. Scores from one province's PNP cannot be directly compared to scores from another.
British Columbia
Changes to the BC PNP: The BC PNP announced upcoming changes to its program, including phasing out the International Graduate and International Post-Graduate streams. These will be replaced by three new streams for Bachelor's, Master's, and Doctorate graduates with full-time job offers in skilled occupations. Minimum language proficiency requirements will also increase across most streams. These changes are expected in January 2025.
Invitations to Apply (ITAs) issued: British Columbia invited at least 127 candidates to apply through their Skilled Worker International Graduate stream (including the Express Entry British Columbia (EEBC) option). These candidates have graduated from an eligible Canadian university or college and have job offers in the province.
Quebec
Draw results: Quebec invited 1,357 individuals to apply for permanent selection based on their French language proficiency (at least level 7 oral) and a minimum score within the Quebec immigration system (596 points) or a valid job offer outside the Montreal metropolitan area.
Manitoba
Special draw for Ukrainians: Manitoba held a special draw for Ukrainian nationals seeking immigration due to the ongoing war. The province issued 179 Expressions of Interest (EOIs) to Ukrainian citizens who met specific criteria, including language skills, established connection to Manitoba, a minimum score, and sufficient settlement funds.
