Ontario, British Columbia, and Manitoba recently conducted draws for their respective Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs), inviting eligible candidates to apply for provincial nomination. These programs play a crucial role in Canada's immigration system, allowing provinces to select individuals who possess the skills and experience needed to contribute to their local economies.
Ontario
On August 22, Ontario issued 1,287 notifications of interest to candidates in the Express Entry Skilled Trades stream of the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP). To be considered, candidates needed a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score between 400 and 435 and work experience in a targeted occupation with a specific National Occupation Classification (NOC) code.
British Columbia
British Columbia issued over 158 invitations to Skilled Worker and International Graduate candidates (including Express Entry British Columbia candidates) in the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP) on August 27. The province targeted five specific occupations: childcare (minimum score of 83), construction (88), healthcare (99), tech (118), and veterinary care (80).
Manitoba
The Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) held a draw on August 30, inviting 150 candidates from two PNP streams. 126 invitations went to candidates from the International Education stream (no minimum score reported), and 24 invitations were extended to candidates from the Skilled Worker Overseas stream under a Strategic Recruitment Initiative, requiring a minimum score of 727. Notably, 21 of the total invitations were issued to candidates with valid Express Entry profiles.
These recent PNP draws demonstrate the ongoing efforts of Canadian provinces to attract skilled workers and international graduates, contributing to their economic development and addressing labor market needs. It's important to remember that a provincial nomination is not the same as an invitation to apply for permanent residency from Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). Candidates who receive a provincial nomination must still submit a separate application to IRCC for permanent residency.
