Five Canadian provinces actively sought skilled newcomers through their Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs) last week. These programs offer an alternative pathway to permanent residence for individuals with skills and experience aligned with provincial labor market needs.
These programs allow provinces and territories to select skilled immigrants who can address their specific labor market needs.
Ontario Held Multiple Draws:
The Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) conducted three draws, inviting candidates in the Masters Graduates stream (score of 52+), PhD Graduates stream (score of 42+), and Express Entry Human Capital Priorities stream (CRS score 468-480).
British Columbia Issued Invitations in Various Streams:
The British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BCPNP) held two draws:
A general draw for Skilled Worker, International Graduate (with and without Express Entry BC option), and Entry Level and Semi-Skilled streams (minimum score varied).
A draw targeting specific occupations (Childcare, Construction, Healthcare, Veterinary Care) within the Skilled Worker and International Graduate streams (minimum score varied).
Quebec Conducted Draw Through Arrima System:
Quebec invited candidates with a valid job offer outside Montreal, level 7+ French proficiency, and a minimum score of 603 points to apply for a Quebec Selection Certificate (required for permanent residence).
Alberta Held Draws for Healthcare Professionals:
The Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP) issued Notifications of Interest (NOI) to healthcare workers with Alberta job offers and a minimum CRS score of 303-311.
Prince Edward Island Invited Workers in Key Sectors:
The PEI Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) invited candidates with experience in healthcare, manufacturing, and construction.
