Ontario, British Columbia, Quebec, Manitoba, Alberta, and New Brunswick Extend Invitations.

By Jessica Thakur, October 3, 2023

Canada's provinces continue to actively select candidates for immigration through their Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs), contributing to the nation's economic growth and diversity. In the latest provincial immigration results, six provinces - Ontario, British Columbia, Quebec, Manitoba, Alberta, and New Brunswick - have extended invitations to eligible candidates.

All provinces and territories in Canada, except Quebec and Nunavut, operate Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs) designed to select economic immigration candidates based on regional economic priorities. These programs allow provinces to play an active role in selecting candidates who can meet their specific labor market and economic needs, reflecting the shared responsibility between provincial and federal governments in the immigration process.

Provincial Immigration Results (September 22-29)

Ontario

Ontario, through its Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP), issued 1,696 notifications of interest (NOIs) on September 26. This targeted draw was specifically for candidates in the Express Entry Human Capital Priorities stream who are healthcare professionals. Candidates in this draw had a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score ranging from 350 to 462. The professions included:

- General practitioners and family physicians (NOC 31102)

- Nursing coordinators and supervisors (NOC 31300)

- Registered nurses and registered psychiatric nurses (NOC 31301)

- Licensed practical nurses (NOC 32101)

- Nurse aides, orderlies, and patient service associates (NOC 33102)

British Columbia

British Columbia held four targeted draws on September 26, inviting over 204 PNP candidates. The draws focused on Skilled Workers and International Graduates, including Express Entry candidates. The largest draw was for tech professionals with a minimum Skills Immigration Registration System (SIRS) score of 90. Other draws targeted early childcare educators and assistants, healthcare professionals, and candidates in other priority occupations with a minimum SIRS score of 60.

Quebec

In its most recent Arrima draw, Quebec invited 1,018 Regular Skilled Worker candidates to apply for permanent selection. The draw was not general but targeted candidates in various occupations, including tech, healthcare, and teaching. Eligible candidates needed a score of 579 points and a level 7 oral proficiency (or higher) in French.

Manitoba

Manitoba held a unique draw on September 28, inviting 1,072 candidates in the Skilled Workers Overseas category. This strategic recruitment draw considered candidates working in regulated occupations and fully licensed to work in Manitoba.

Alberta

On September 26, Alberta invited 18 Express Entry candidates through the Dedicated Healthcare Pathway with an Alberta job offer. These candidates were also part of the federal Express Entry system, requiring a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 311.

New Brunswick

New Brunswick released the results of its provincial Express Entry program for August. The province invited 175 Express Entry candidates through three separate PNP streams: New Brunswick Employment Connection, New Brunswick Student Connection, and New Brunswick Occupation-In-Demand Connection.

These ongoing provincial immigration draws reflect Canada's commitment to attracting skilled talent from around the world and addressing regional labor market needs. The PNPs allow provinces to tailor their immigration programs to align with their economic priorities, contributing to the nation's prosperity and diversity.
