British Columbia and Manitoba issued invitations to skilled workers and international graduates through their Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs) last week.
Combined, over 400 candidates received invitations to apply for permanent residence in Canada.
British Columbia Targets In-Demand Skills
The British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BCPNP) invited at least 88 candidates through their Skilled Worker and International Graduate stream, including the Express Entry British Columbia (EEBC) option. This program prioritizes recent graduates from B.C. universities and colleges with valid job offers from B.C. employers. Notably, invitations focused on professionals in occupations experiencing high demand in the province:
Childcare professionals (minimum score of 90)
Construction professionals (minimum score of 95)
Healthcare professionals (minimum score of 95)
Tech professionals (minimum score of 116)
Veterinary care professionals (minimum score of 80)
The inclusion of the EEBC option signifies an enhanced provincial nomination stream. These streams align with the federal Express Entry immigration system, allowing candidates in the Express Entry pool to be nominated for provincial permanent residence.
Manitoba Invites Skilled Workers Across Occupations
The Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) issued over 350 invitations to apply for permanent residence. The Skilled Worker in Manitoba, Occupation-specific selection stream (part of the Manitoba Work Experience pathway) saw 276 invitations issued to individuals working in occupations critical to the province's economy. These occupations fall under the National Occupation Classification (NOC) system, including:
33102 - Nurse aides, orderlies, and patient service associates
60020 - Retail and wholesale trade managers
Group 731 - Workers in general construction trades
The MPNP also invited 87 candidates through the Skilled Worker Overseas stream, requiring a minimum score of 691 and participation in a Strategic Recruitment Initiative.
Express Entry Alignment Boosts Opportunities:
Among the 363 invitations issued by Manitoba, 81 went to candidates with valid Express Entry profiles. This highlights the growing number of enhanced PNP streams aligned with Express Entry, offering additional pathways to Canadian permanent residence.
