In the latest round of provincial immigration selections, both Ontario and British Columbia have invited a new batch of skilled workers to apply for provincial nomination through their respective Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs). On September 5th, the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) conducted a draw specifically targeting French-speaking skilled workers. A total of 96 Notifications of Interest (NOIs) were issued to candidates who had a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score ranging between 290 and 393. The French-Speaking Skilled Worker Stream is designed to attract individuals who possess strong French language abilities and can contribute to Ontario's diverse workforce.
British Columbia Holds Two Draws
The British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BCPNP) conducted two separate draws on September 4th, catering to various skilled worker categories. The first draw was a general selection, inviting 75 candidates from the Skilled Worker, International Graduate, and Entry Level & Semi-Skilled streams. Minimum score requirements varied depending on the stream, with the Entry & Semi-Skilled stream requiring a slightly lower score of 110.
The second BCPNP draw specifically targeted candidates with work experience in key sectors crucial to British Columbia's economy. This draw focused on the Skilled Worker and International Graduate streams, with invitations extended to individuals with experience in childcare. Minimum scores for this draw ranged from 80 to 99, depending on the specific occupation and experience level.
Saskatchewan Closes Hard-to-Fill Skills Pilot
In other provincial immigration news, the Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP) has permanently closed its Hard-to-Fill Skills Pilot as of August 30, 2024. This decision aims to improve the efficiency of immigration pathways and enhance settlement outcomes for newcomers. While no new applications will be accepted under this pilot, existing applications with valid job approval letters will continue to be processed.
The SINP encourages individuals affected by this closure to explore alternative pathways and is offering information sessions on September 6 and 11 to provide guidance and support.
