Under the revised system, applicants providing evidence of pressing requirements will receive priority when the allocation of places takes place.
The Priority Processing service, renowned for fast-tracking applications for General and Professional occupations, ensures a thorough assessment within 10 business days. Due to its popularity, VETASSESS will now prioritize applicants with urgent needs during the allocation process.
However, even without urgent circumstances, applicants can still avail the Priority Processing service. While those with evidence of urgent needs will receive the initial allocation, any remaining slots will be offered on a first-come-first-served basis.
Urgent reasons that qualify for Priority Processing include receiving an invitation from the Department of Home Affairs or an Australian state or territory government with an impending expiry date. Additionally, applicants facing visa expiration within eight weeks without an alternative, and those approaching age milestones of 33, 40, or 45 within eight weeks are eligible. The service also covers expiring English test results and Partner Skills Assessments within the same timeframe.
Applicants are advised that their Priority Processing request will only be considered after submitting the application, ensuring the process can be completed within the 10-business-day timeline. The 10-day period begins after confirmation of eligibility criteria, a process that usually takes up to two business days.
As of August 9, VETASSESS will adjust the Priority Processing fee to $806, excluding GST, up from the current $623. Prior to application submission, it is crucial to prepare all necessary documents and submit payment, as no additional documents can be added later due to the tight timeframe. Misleading or inconsistent document submissions could lead to additional checks and potential delays beyond the 10 business days.
VETASSESS assures applicants of their commitment to meeting the 10-day processing timeline. A review of each application is conducted within two business days before acceptance into the Priority Processing service. In case an application does not meet the eligibility criteria or cannot be assessed within the given timeframe, a refund of the Priority Processing fee, minus a $100 administration charge, will be provided.
In instances where VETASSESS is unable to complete a Priority Processing application within the specified 10 business days, a refund will be issued, subtracting a $100 administration fee. Refunds will not be granted if documents are identified as false, misleading, inconsistent, or if further investigation into their authenticity is required.
