What is Canada Express Entry?

Updated: Jan 26, 2023

The express entry program was launched by Canadian immigration in 2015 as an online points-based system to invite skilled workers for permanent residency. This points-based program was a promising approach addition to Canada's immigration system. Through the express entry program, Canada is able to meet its immigration targets each year, and candidates who wish to become a Canadian permanent resident can now express their interest to the Canadian government in a completely unbiased and transparent system.

There are three categories under this program:

  1. Federal Skilled Workers Program (See requirements)

  2. Canadian Experience Class (See requirements)

  3. Federal Skilled Trade Workers Program (See requirements)
